• Works closely with the facilities director and facilities personnel in maintaining and servicing all building systems at New World Center and/or the housing site as assigned
  • Performs daily building inspections
  • Performs a variety of general and semi-skilled tasks and assignments within the building, offices and around the grounds of the organization
  • Completes maintenance requests as assigned and in accord with priorities set by the supervisor
  • Receives daily list of work orders to be accomplished
  • Reports any difficulties or circumstances preventing completion of assignments
  • May assist in setting up meeting and conference rooms
  • Moves and stores furniture and equipment
  • Assists in loading and unloading shipments
  • Makes pick-up and delivery trips associated with maintenance tasks
  • Performs routine and unpredicted building maintenance
  • Participates in weekly departmental meetings
  • Required to work flexible hours including normal business hours, evenings, weekends & holidays
  • HVAC maintenance and repair
  • Electrical light bulb and light fixture maintenance and replacement

  • Painting and drywall repair
  • Janitorial maintain public areas including maintenance to restrooms
  • Required to keep building grounds neat and attractive appearing by regularly mowing, raking, trimming, weed maintenance, watering and sweeping these areas.
  • Trash removal
  • Maintain clean and safe environment in the entire property
  • Maintain club room and gymnasium
  • Maintain office areas as well as practice rooms, atrium terrace, lobbies
  • Available to work concert events and or rental events on weekends, late at night or holidays

Requirements of the Position

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal
  • Ability to take initiative and be a self-starter
  • Excellent customer service skills a must
  • Prior experience in the facilities maintenance field
  • On-call coverage for emergencies after hours, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to respond and remedy maintenance issues in a timely manner
  • A valid driver’s license


Minimum of 5 years’ hands-on experience in operating, maintaining and repairing facilities mechanical equipment including but not limited to HVAC, air handlers, water treatment, centrifugal chillers, pumps, cooling towers, building automation, electrical service and repairs, life safety and security systems.  HVAC journeyman’s license and a refrigerant handler’s type universal certificate are highly desirable.  


Physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary to successfully perform essential functions of the facilities maintenance engineer. The facilities maintenance engineer is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  The employee is constantly required to apply various types of physical exertion, such as prolonged reaching, bending, kneeling, and lifting. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.


Representative work environmental characteristics include indoor and outdoor work settings with mild to adverse exposure to environmental hazards; climbing of stairs and ladders and walking long distances to access all areas of the facility; varying degrees of noise and atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odors, dust, etc.
