The Philadelphia Museum of Art seeks candidates for a three-year fellowship in photography in the Department of Prints, Drawings, and Photographs. Funded by the Horace W. Goldsmith Foundation, this fellow will work primarily with the Museum’s distinguished permanent collection of photographs and will participate in all aspects of curatorial work in the PDP department. Specialists in the History of Photography are invited to apply. This position will begin May 2018 and has an application deadline of April 13th.

Specifically, you will…

Provide general curatorial support to the Curator of Photographs- cataloging, managing related data entry, assisting with loans, supporting gallery rotations, responding to inquiries about the collection, and monitoring the Study Room. Assist with future exhibitions and publications (including at least one exhibition that is independently organized). Research and write on proposed acquisitions for the PDP collection. Coordinate internal projects with conservators, the collections manager, the photo studio, volunteers, and other stakeholders.

Your diverse background includes…

Master’s degree in art history or related field is required. A demonstrated commitment to scholarship in art history and an ability to work collaboratively. Prior experience in a museum environment or similar art institution. Technical proficiency with personal computers and Microsoft Office suite Excellent writing and communication skills Prior experience with collection management software, The Museum System (TMS) is preferred.
