This position is located in the Director’s Office, Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute (SCBI), Front Royal, VA. The incumbent is responsible for the overall management planning, development of exhibitions, facility modification/construction operations, multi-year safety program plans and activities.
Responsible for the planning, coordination and direction of administrative and facility conditions and services at the SCBI facilities in Front Royal, VA. Develops multi-year safety program plans, researching innovative path-breaking alternatives and options, and evaluating SCBI performance regarding safety standards and guidance from OSHA, the EPA and all other outside agencies. Briefs the Deputy Director, SCBI to keep them informed on the status of significant management activities relevant to program operation and planning; provides advice and guidance to management on sensitive issues and projected design, construction or other facility problems requiring their immediate attention or intervention. Reviews and assures planning and coordination conflict in design, construction and scheduling to assure that the SCBI’s programs and priorities move forward in alignment. Organizes, assigns work and makes changes or adjustments in internal functions to better accomplish mission objectives; exercises delegated authority to oversee the overall planning, direction, and timely execution of the facility administration and management program.
