Kelly Strayhorn Theater is a vibrant and vital multi-arts presenter. We encourage, enable, and empower an entire spectrum of small- and medium-sized arts groups, which, in turn, enrich both the artistic climate of Pittsburgh and the economic development of East Liberty.


To provide knowledgeable assistance to leadership in the programming, administration, and scheduling of “KST Presents” events. The experience of working in a real-time situation on these events will complement the intern’s previous or current academic work in the arts, arts or non-profit administration, or programming.

10–15 hours a week as needed; determined by the Producing Director.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

Exact description of the intern’s responsibilities will be determined after analysis of the

successful candidate’s strengths and experiential needs. We are planning to have the internship cover a customized selection from among the following duties.

Administration/Programming Concepts:

Communications with Artists Travel and Housing Logistics and Arrangements Determining programming needs and research Partnership building with other organizations Outreach activities

Preferred Skills & Orientation

Interest, and some experience through previous work or academic pursuits, in the general areas of administration, event planning and organization, arts and education programming Ability to multi-task; strong organizational, writing, and communication skills. Experience with Apple computers/Macintosh operating system Some proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel Operational knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, basic HTML, or WordPress is helpful Extremely detail oriented Commitment to Kelly Strayhorn Theater’s mission

Length of Internship

Fall Internship: September-December

Spring Internship: January-May
