The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Foundation (VMFAF) is excited to announce an opening for an Accounting & Finance Intern.  This position will be for roughly eight to ten weeks at about twenty hours per week.

The Intern will assist with a variety of administrative and file maintenance tasks to ensure a smooth transition from the previous fiscal audit year into the next one.  This includes organizing the audit files, investment files, and the accounts payable files and archiving some files based upon the Commonwealth of Virginia’s archive protocols.  The Intern will gain an understanding about the archiving process, the Foundation’s auditing process, the steps entailed in investing the Foundation’s large holdings, general filing requirements, privacy regulations, and team work.

Minimum Qualifications:  Qualified candidates should have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to maintain confidentiality, and an interest in accounting, finance, and business administration.  This can be demonstrated through educational, volunteer, and/or work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:  Candidates will ideally be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate level program or recently graduated from one.

Special Requirements:  The optimal starting date for this position will be in late spring or early summer 2020, but potential start dates will be discussed during interviews with those shortlisted.  The selected candidate must pass a criminal history background check.

This position will be for roughly eight to ten weeks at about twenty hours per week.  It will pay $12.00-$14.00 per hour depending upon experience.
