The Opportunity

The Graphic Designer II will work with creative director/senior designer to create the layout and design of a variety of media, focusing on publications and infographics, newsletters, brochures, proposals, invitations, advertisements, fliers, direct mail, postcards, marketing collateral, and web content to support the missions of UF Health, with specific emphasis on fundraising and alumni relations.

This role will work on a team that provides print layout and graphic design, creative consultation, video and audio production, voiceovers, multimedia design (such as 3D animation), digital publishing and photography. We also enforce our brand and logo standards to ensure that our products share the same professional look and feel. 

  • Collaborates with department to understand project assignment, audience, and intended message
  • Creates original visual media that communicates the messaging the department wants to portray
  • Produces sample layout for approval by the department or other project participants for review
  • Manages and maintains graphic files, including photos, vector art, and logos
  • Tracks, communicates, and evaluates progress of projects and associated metrics throughout process
  • Revises projects as necessary based on collaborative feedback process. 
  • Prepares print files and assembly instructions on notification of final approval
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

UF Health Advancement Communications Team

The UF Health Advancement Communications team oversees the communications needs of the College of Medicine Office of Development and Alumni Affairs and Shands Development, as well as support the six colleges of the Health Science Center. We produce Florida Physician, the Dr. Gator newsletter and The Insider online newsletter. We provide strategic communications planning and execution for fundraising initiatives, prepare announcements and organize media coverage for private gifts, write proposals and case statements, oversee online communications and social media efforts, produce materials in support of UF Health events and provide direct communications support to the College of Medicine dean.

Expected Salary:

$44,500 – $52,000 annually

Minimum Requirements:

Master’s degree in an appropriate area; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or an associate’s degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proficiency with InDesign, PageMaker, Photoshop, Illustrator, Quark, or comparable electronic design software
  • Five years of experience as a designer for an agency, magazine, or newspaper
  • Knowledge of the fine arts and their relevance to creating promotional materials that impresses and inspire
  • Knowledge of layouts, graphic fundamentals, typography, and must have the ability to storyboard or translate ideas to designers and develop innovative graphics solutions for both print and Web
  • Good understanding of typesetting
  • Basic knowledge of commercial printing
  • Proficient at transitioning printed publications to e-Publications
  • Writing and editing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team toward organizational objectives
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Organized and detail-oriented
