The Manager, Development supports all aspects of the Hammer’s Annual Giving program, with a strong focus on donors capable of making restricted and unrestricted annual gifts at the level of $25,000 and above. This position manages a fundraising plan to cultivate and secure support for the Hammer’s individual giving program to support annual operations, with an emphasis on maintaining pipelines, drafting correspondence, conducting research, coordinating meetings and events, and communicating with third parties. The incumbent works closely with the Deputy Director, Advancement and Director, Development to manage the individual giving donor pipeline for annual fundraising and develop and maintain status reports for the Director and Board members. This position will also be responsible for tracking pledges and gifts and acting as a liaison with other departments (communications, curatorial, operations, etc.) as their activities relate to the individual giving.
The Manager, Development maintains a sophisticated and nuanced understanding of donors’ individual interests, enthusiasms, connections, and relationships with the Hammer, in order to advance successful engagement, cultivation, and stewardship strategies across the institution. This person’s efforts directly support the frontline activity of the Director of Development, Deputy Director, Advancement, and Museum Director, which in turn generates approximately $5 million in major gift support from individual donors each year.
