Reports To:         Director of Communications

Responsibilities

The Marketing Assistant assists with State Theatre New Jersey’s various marketing, communications and public relations tasks. This requires that the position be filled with an individual who can multitask, work within an inter-departmental team setting, has strong written and verbal communication skills, and is comfortable working with spreadsheets. This position reports to the Director of Communications and works closely with the Director of Event Marketing. The position plays a vital role in coordinating marketing, maintaining budgets, and trafficking and supporting communication initiatives across the organization.

Specific Duties

  • Log invoices and maintain departmental logs and reports
  • Edit/proof marketing materials, ads, press releases, and other copy and ensure proper sponsor credits are included in materials
  • Traffic all communication materials and ensure proper reviews and approvals
  • Under the direction of the Director of Event Marketing prepare and manage event marketing plans and budgets including on sale timelines
  • Prepare ad packs for event marketing show settlements
  • Scan and archive ad packs after show settlements
  • Organize and maintain archives of all marketing materials
  • Schedule Marketing Interns and assign and oversee their workload
  • Acquire and update marketing and publicity materials (e.g., photos, posters, flyers, multimedia, and biographical information)
  • Assist with the coordination of communications campaigns and their timelines
  • Administer and manage the fulfillment of marketing and promotional ticket requests
  • Manage ticket promotion outreach and coordinate with the Guest Services Office for fulfillment
  • Provide support for various communications and media relations activities
  • Acquire, prepare, and edit artist content for playbill and such other publications as may be required
  • Perform basic website updates
  • Create content for STNJ’s online magazine and other website-related publications
  • Prepare and maintain scheduling of State Theatre New Jersey marquee messaging
  • Organize and maintain promotional racks and displays in theater
  • Assist with social media posts and strategy
  • Coordinate, create, and schedule social media campaigns and advertising placements
  • Assist with the production of All Access radio and podcast series
  • Perform other duties, as assigned
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends based on show schedules

Minimum Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, communications, or a related field
  • Solid organizational, time-management skills, and strong attention to detail
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both individually and in a team environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, standard social media platforms
  • Ability to lift 20lbs, see in low light situations, and tolerate loud noise
