The Harn Museum at the University of Florida is looking for an OPS Security Guard. Applicants must be able to work weekends, evenings, and weekdays as needed. Museum security duties include investigation of all incidents that result in injury to visitors or employees and incidents resulting in damage to objects of art or museum facilities. Additionally, the security guard will provide assistance to all customers of the museum.

Specific duties include:

Participate in the daily operation of physical security controls. Investigate incidents resulting in injury to visitors and employees Complete and submit all necessary reports to management. Investigate incidents resulting in loss or damage to art or museum facilities. Assist in the development of security plans for the protection of works of art on the premises. Pursue and complete projects necessary to ensure the safety of patrons and security of property. Patrol designated areas to check for vandalism, mechanical failure, fire, and theft. Provide assistance to museum patrons by answering questions and giving directions. Assist with planning, controlling, and monitoring electronic security systems. Assist with maintaining records, including the staff/visitor log, property passes, and security log. Assist with the development and implementation of an effective control system. Inspect packages and monitor building access to ensure access is granted only to those so authorized. Provide front desk coverage on an as-needed basis. Assist with the setup and breakdown of equipment, chairs, and tables for museum activities. Provide security escorts for maintenance or other activities throughout the museum.

Advertised Salary:

$9.00 – $10.00 hourly

Minimum Requirements:

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and one year of appropriate experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience. Must be able to work a variable schedule according to the needs of the museum, 20 – 40 hours per week, including weekdays, weekends, and evenings.
