Overhire Tech: Audio Tech, Stage Tech, Lighting Tech, Video Tech, Wardrobe Assistant
Scottsdale Arts seeks part time/per diem staff to work in our 850 seat theater as well as other Scottsdale Arts venues in a variety of positions.
Assists in the load-in, set-up, running and strike and load-out of sound systems, stage lighting, audio/visual and theatrical equipment necessary for specific events. Must work from oral and written instructions specific to the event. Assists with maintenance of all theater equipment and work spaces. Ensures safe working environment at all times.
All positions require GED or equivalent plus 2 years of experience in specific area sought. See below for more information on what is required by specific position.
Audio Visual Tech:
Professional experience and knowledge of digital audio consoles, (Avid, Midas, Yamaha, Allen and Heath) , microphones, audio processors, audio signal flow, stage set-up and strike. Advanced knowledge of stage plots, input lists, cable management, trouble shooting, signal flow as it pertains to audio systems. Experience working with artists on behalf of performing arts organizations, expert communication during sound checks and live performances.
Advanced experience in managing crews of multiple people. Advanced techniques in communication and time management. Advanced experience in working closely with performers, managers, event representatives and coordinating their communication with technical departments. Professional and approachable disposition. Knowledge of multiple types of performance, standard sequencing of performances and ability to create and follow cue lists. Knowledgeable about theatrical stage safety standards. Basic first aid knowledge. Ability to lead and stay calm in emergency situations.
Experience and knowledge of how to interpret lighting documentation including hanging plots, circuit maps, line set schedules, instrument schedules and cue lists. Advanced knowledge and experience of ETC consoles including Ion, Gio and Express. Basic theatrical electricity knowledge including calculation of dimmer capacity. Experience tying in to house power services. Design candidates should supply or present portfolio materials for consideration.
Knowledgeable in video signal flow, video switcher operation. Knowledgeable in projector operation including setting up, focusing, powering, cooling and lamping. Preferred experience in Qlab programming, powerpoint formatting and operation and other video playback platforms.
Experience in laundering costumes. Acknowledgement that laundering costumes requires extra care and attention to ensure their upkeep and integrity. Experience in ironing and steaming costumes. Experience working closely with performers. Preferred: Experience with basic sewing techniques. Ability to make small repairs and adjustments to costumes.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. Noise level is moderate to heavy. Position requires the availability for a flexible schedule that includes weekdays, evenings and weekends working as needed. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk and stand for long periods of time. Must sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel, see, reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distant and color vision. Must be agile enough to work on catwalks up to 45 feet above ground.
