SCAD seeks a sculpture professor for the university’s Atlanta location. SCAD sculpture students partner with leading brands and big names, creating memorable experiences in the public sphere, like the recent large-scale artwork SCAD students created for the Hyatt Atlanta Midtown. Featured in prestigious media outlets including CNN and Wired, in the studios of NBCUniversal, on the sets of Marvel films and for on-the-pulse brands like Anthropologie, that work and more is produced within one of the finest sculpture studios in higher education. In this role, you will fuse the discipline of sculpture with multiple other disciplines, such as industrial design, fashion, film, interior design and more. Working with students to shape wood, concrete, bronze, light, textiles, sustainable and organic matter, digital projections and other emerging materials into everything from large public art to movie miniatures, you will also propel students to solve design challenges, consider strategic business objectives and shape the form, function and emotional experiences of everyday life. The ideal candidate reflects the capability and enthusiasm to address cross-disciplinary dialogues, while demonstrating the vision, ambition and interest in collaborating with individuals from a variety of disciplines. Operating alongside highly motivated and diverse students, you must exhibit a mastery of traditional and contemporary sculpture methods that include digital creation and output. You should also have a working knowledge of software such as ZBrush, Maya, Rhino 3D and/or Autodesk Alias. Requirements: — Terminal degree or its equivalent in sculpture, industrial design or a related field — At least five years of sculpture and/or industrial design experience — Excellent sketching and visualization capabilities and a strong understanding of prototyping and construction — Excellent computer-modeling skills — Keen eye toward the development of well-crafted sculptural works — Mastery of design process to generate memorable solutions — Desire to mentor exceptional students — Ability to foster an active and engaging learning environment
