About The Phoenix Theatre Company
The Phoenix Theatre Company, a LOA LORT D Theatre and Arizona’s largest professional regional theatre, seeks counselors for their inclusive summer camp.
Located in the heart of the Central Arts District close to downtown Phoenix, our beautiful 14 acre campus includes three theaters, a restaurant and bar, rehearsal halls, administrative offices, costume, scenic, prop, lighting and paint shops, all on one site. We produce a wide range of theatre, from full scale musicals to comedies, dramas and original new work. Our community service programs have gained national attention. With a $9 million annual operating budget, and celebrating our 100th Season, we offer 10-12 diverse productions every season as well as a growing Festival of New American Theatre. This is a full time summer seasonal position at one of the most groundbreaking summer camps in the country. We are excited about another fun-filled summer, and are currently seeking enthusiastic and energetic individuals for Camp Counselor positions. We have limited space for counselors and these positions are very popular, so we encourage you to apply early!
Counselors are first and foremost utilized to monitor the safety and wellbeing of individual students while assisting teachers in classroom management. During check in and out all counselors have assigned placement throughout campus to insure students arrive and leave safely with their guardians. During classroom time, counselors are expected to be proactive in assisting kids that are struggling to learn lines, choreography or music by being an example. Additionally, Counselors are in charge of leading games within their classroom and others throughout the day. Counselors also have duties throughout the day that are required to make sure the camp day runs smoothly and the facility is kept clean.
Essential duties and responsibilities
- Assisting Teachers in Classrooms
- Leading Games
- Participating in all class activities as a leader
- Managing class behavior
- Maintaining camp safety standards at all times
- Other duties as assigned
- Must be 16 years old
- Reliable transportation
- Must be responsible and consistently on-time
- Must be self-motivated and proactive
- Previous experience working with children
- Able to commit to four weeks or more of the eight weeks camp is offered (June 1 – July 31)
- Comfortable working alone or in a team
- Enjoy working with children and/or teenagers
- Previous theatre, music or dance experience
