Teacher Programs Developer

The Role Liberty Science Center (LSC) is seeking a Teacher Programs Developer to join our Teacher Program team. The Teacher Programs Developer’s primary areas of focus will be developing and facilitating engaging and educational teacher professional development experiences.   The Teacher Programs Developer will report to the Associate Director of Teacher Programs.   What You’ll Bring Your love of learning and development combined with your passion for the ever converging worlds of science, technology, arts, and education motivates you daily. And last but not least, your engaging personality, superior communication capabilities, attention to detail, and ability to organize and flex on a moment’s notice make you the envy of all of your colleagues.     What You’ll Do Research and develop professional development experiences based on the Next Generation Science Standards, Common Core Standards, and other relevant standards (e.g., ISTE, CSTA)   Plan and facilitate professional development experiences ranging from half-day workshops to week-long teacher institutes. Collect and analyze digital participant feedback in improving the effectiveness of the professional development experiences. Create and deliver on-site workshops for a variety of STEM, coding, interdisciplinary, and technology topics. Assist with planning professional development plans with external partners (i.e. schools/districts). Collaborate inter and intra-divisionally to facilitate professional development programs.  Represent Liberty Science Center at teacher conventions/meetings. Assist with researching, planning, and program facilitation for professional development grants   Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) Knowledge of Next Generation Science Standards, Common Core, and other standards Knowledge of and demonstrated competency in effective classroom practices Excellent written and oral communication skills Exceptional presentation and facilitation skills Experience with block coding in Scratch or Code.org Ability to work with a wide cross section of learning styles and to modify delivery based on varying audience needs. Ability to innovate and stay abreast of educational research and best practices in planning professional development experiences.   Preferred Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in science/science education-related field; Master’s degree is a plus 2+ years of teaching students in a classroom setting (range from pre-K – 12 grade) 1+ years of experience with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and inquiry-based STEM education Experience working with teachers and/or adult learners is a plus Commitment to LSC’s mission   Supervisory Responsibilities The Teacher Programs Developer will assist with project management of school partnership and grant based initiatives.   Classification and Schedule This is a full-time, exempt position.  Your typical week will be Monday – Friday, however some weekend work will be required at times.   Physical Demands This job combines a traditional office environment, where you may be sitting for extended periods of time, with facilitation days where the employee may be on their feet for 6-7 hours a day.  The job also entails periodic travel to school districts and teaching in their meeting spaces and/or classrooms/labs.  The ability to lift 30 pounds is required.    LSC’s Work Culture at a Glimpse Liberty Science Center’s culture can best be described as a fun, creative, collaborative, and casual working environment.
