The Shakespeare Theatre Company seeks a Video and Content Creator (VCC) to join our Marketing and Communications team and offer a fresh voice for our Tony Award winning theatre company. The VCC works with the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications and members of the Marketing and Communications team to maintain the creative direction for STC and its communication vehicles with an emphasis on video and web assets including commercials, video trailers, behind the scenes featurettes in support of productions and the Company. The position also includes some graphic design work in support of the department. The VCC is part of a Graphic Design team which includes a Graphic Designer and a Graphic Design Fellow, all of whom are supervised by the Associate Director of Communications.
The candidate we hire should have a dynamite demo reel that showcases their creativity and strong narrative and non-narrative storytelling. The VCC will pitch video ideas, write scripts, storyboard visuals, and capture the desired footage. The skills needed to excel in this position include good interpersonal skills, the ability to schedule logistics and stay on task, the ability to interview artists and staff on camera, as well as facility with video equipment, editing, animation, graphics integration, an eye for strong visuals, an ear for good storytelling, and strong writing ability. Excellence with After Effects or Premiere Pro is a must; experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or InDesign is also required. A knowledge of theatre and Shakespeare is preferred, but not essential.
This season the VCC will work on projects supporting the remaining shows in STC’s season including The Amen Corner by James Baldwin, Emma Rice’s Romantics Anonymous and two shows by William Shakespeare: Timon of Athens and Much Ado About Nothing.
