The MIT Museum is looking for a flexible, part-time assistant to work with both the Visitor Services and Programs departments.
Visitor Services duties will include: greeting visitors, selling admission tickets, ringing up museum store purchases and periodically restocking store, staffing reception desk and answering visitor questions, monitoring groups in the galleries during busy periods, light gallery maintenance (will train), and other duties as assigned.
Programs duties will include: setting up chairs, tables and food for evening and/or weekend programs as needed, greeting program attendees and collecting visitation data, breaking down and storing chairs and tables after the program, and other duties as assigned.
Hours: a mix of day and evening shifts with flexibility to accommodate Museum program schedules, approximately 16-24 hours per week, including at least one weekend day. Additional evening hours to staff Museum event rentals may also be available.
Qualifications: A high school diploma or equivalent education is required, Bachelor’s degree preferred. Applicants should enjoy working with the public, possess basic computer skills, have an interest in science and technology, be able to stand on their feet for extended periods of time, and lift up to 50 lbs.
